Updates on the development of coding puzzler Robo Instructus

Robo Instructus: 2 Years Old

I'm a game developer. I made robot engineering puzzle game Robo Instructus. For my previous posts look here.

Today Robo Instructus is 2 years old. Let’s take a look at how it did in the last 12 months.

To celebrate 2 years Robo Instructus is 50% off on Steam & itch.io for the next 7 days.

The game has received 9 updates over the year, the latest 1.31.4. Most notably the game completed a full German translation thanks to community contribution (all translations are done in the open so anyone can help improve them on github). The updates also brought QoL improvements like auto-scrolling to code errors/while debugging, along with bug fixes and code maintenance.

Sales by platform   In the last year
Steam 3366 822
itch.io 34 7

The vast majority of sales continue to be on Steam.

Last year Steam sales by region
United States 23%
Russian Federation 21%
Germany 9%
France 5%
United Kingdom 5%
China 4%
Brazil 3%
Poland 2%
Canada 2%
Japan 2%
Other 24%

Last year Steam sales by OS
Windows* 88.3%
Linux 9.0%
Mac 2.7%

* Steam doesn’t actually count Windows explicitly, so this tally is the sales that are not counted as Linux or Mac.

Feedback

On Steam the game is currently rated Positive with 84% of 45 user reviews, a similar place to last year.

Achievements

Looking at a couple of choice Steam achievements, The Gist which you get for completing the 4th level (ie you’ve actually had a go at the game) is 63.6%, up from 60.9 last year. Open The Vault which you get for completing the game is at 0.8%, up from 0.7. So more people have played, and a few have even managed to complete, the game this year. Good job!

You can play the Robo Instructus demo and buy the game on Steam & itch.io.
